L.A.C.A.D.A.'s Non-Discrimination Policy

LACADA serves all survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence regardless of race, sex, age, color, national origin, sexual orientation, religious or political preference, physical or mental handicap, height, weight, or marital status.

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is a pattern of assaultive and coercive behavior aimed at gaining power and control over one's partner.  Domestic violence effects one out of every three families.  Although the majority of cases reported are women being victimized by men, anyone can be a victim including men.

Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is any forced, coerced, or unwanted sexual contact.  It includes any unwanted sexual act or contact that is attempted or completed against a person's will.

Crisis Line

(810) 667-4175

The Crisis line is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to answer calls from survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Advocates and volunteers are available to answer questions and provide support for survivors and their family members and friends.  Advocates provide information and referrals, and will help answer any questions the survivor may have about accessing services.

All calls are confidential.  Collect calls are accepted.

Emergency Shelter

LACADA provides safe, temporary, emergency shelter for domestic and/or sexual violence victims and their children. Services include:  crisis intervention, information and referrals, transportation, court accompaniment, support groups, individual advocacy, budgeting, safety planning, food and clothing.  To access the shelter call (810)667-4175, collect calls are accepted.

Outreach Services

Our Outreach office provides services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.  Outreach offers all services to survivors that are not seeking shelter.  Outreach services are available on a walk-in or by appointment basis.

Support Groups

LACADA provides support groups for both women and children.  Support groups are open to survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and give survivors the opportunity to talk with others in similar situations.

All support groups are free and confidential.   Childcare is provided if arranged in advance.  For more information call 810-245-0632.

Legal Advocacy

  • Assistance with Personal Protection Orders.
  • Accompaniment and transportation to the hospital, police, prosecutors, and court proceedings.
  • Assistance with filing crime victim's compensation forms.
  • Inform survivors of their legal rights and options.
  • Safety Planning.

Individual Advocacy and Crisis Counseling

LACADA advocates provide individual services tailored to meet your needs such as:  crisis intervention, information and referrals, legal advocacy, court accompaniment, support groups, budgeting, housing assistance and safety planning.

Advocates will inform surivors of domestic and/or sexual violence of their options and community services that are available to them including, but not limited to:

Transitional Housing

Transitional housing is a two year housing program implemented to extend support services to survivors. Support services may include but are not limited to budgeting, credit building, education, employment, personal advocacy, and supportive counseling.

Community Presentations

LACADA offers presentations to organizations, civic groups, religious communities, local businesses, and agencies. Presentations may be on LACADA services, domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, etc. LACADA will tailor presentations to meet the needs of your audience.
