Emergency Shelter
Lacada's Emergency Shelter is Lapeer County's only 24 hour emergency shelter exclusively for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and their children. The shelter operates 365 days a year 24 hours a day. The shelter consists of 5 bedrooms with 19 beds, and multiple communal areas such as the living room, kitchen and dining room. There is a children's play area in the shelter and there is also a secure play area for children outside. The stay at the shelter is approximately 45 days, although Lacada recognizes that every individual has unique barriers and exceptions may be made.
The residents in the emergency shelter are provided with personal care items, clothing, food, and other daily essentials such as diapers and laundry detergent. During a shelter stay, Lacada provides group counseling, crisis and support counseling, information, referrals, and advocacy for health care, legal, housing, financial,transportation, employment, and children's services.
